I’ve never fit neatly into a pre-defined individual contributor or management box. I pride myself on functioning as a leader and a hands on designer, I like to move in and out of the process – from 30k feet, to the high level, to the fine details.
Design is my passion, but putting people at the center of delivery and unlocking potential is where my superpower is.
I pride myself on cultivating design culture by creating and connecting opportunities for ALL designers and non-designers to gain experience and build personal eminence.
Developing and retaining talent as a people manager for 2 design associates and 2 senior designer while leading cross functional project teams of 20+
As a project team, we identified hopes & fears around upcoming program objectives and created action plan to address. From there I was able to leverage the feedback to position individuals into growth areas with peer support where needed.
Identifying growth opportunities by assisting in setting stretch goals and creating spaces to develop through team accountability and ownership
Currently I mentor 6 new-to-career individuals internally and am actively involved in giving back to my university program through student mentorship. Pictured above is the output of a 72 hr student led"design-a-thon", promoting awareness and action around stress management, well-being, and mindfulness – I supported as a mentor to the organizing team and as a judge.
Creating programs, spaces, activities and opportunities for designers and non-designers to collaborate and cross pollinate across knowledge domains
With the shift to remote work, I actively look for opportunities to create "water cooler conversations". Pictured above is a virtual desk activity I held during the early stages of a project to build a sense of community, help the team learn about each other and give less vocal individuals a chance to show their personalities.
